Rambo's coming to town on Sunday!

Fingers crossed that we will have a successful breeding again with happy, healthy babies!  I'm so sad that this will be our last litter with Rambo and probably our last litter ever.  :(

I wonder if we will have more girls this time.  I can't believe we had 10 males last litter!  And I hope poor Girlie doesn't have 14 one-pound puppies again!  Bless her heart!  (Well, bless "our" hearts because she took care of half at a time, and I took care of the other half- tube feeding and cleaning every two hours and rotating groups around the clock).  I'm so excited about the puppies!  I even have an extra video monitor that hooks up to Cole's and I can switch back and forth between rooms using one remote.  Awesome!

I was looking through old pictures from last year, and I found this one of Rambo and Stella.  This just shows his size, because Stella is so big- but he is a monster!  I'll take a new one this weekend!

Not really... she just sat patiently and watched closely.  She had to move in a little closer to smell the teething biscuit.  Stella Fern can't wait until Cole is walking around and dropping Cheerios and crackers- then they are fair game.  I am so accustomed to instant vacuum cleaners by the dogs at my house that I forget when I am at a friend's house and a crumb falls on the floor that it will be there when I look down and needs to be picked up and thrown away.  Haha.  I hope I'm not alone with this problem!

I know... I'm a dork!  Haha.  Stella is now in heat, and she will be bred in approximately ten days.  We are going to run ovulation tests at the end of next week to have a better idea of when the breeding with Rambo will occur.  This puts puppies born around June 4th!!!

Remember this cute little pup?
You won't believe how big he is now!
(I don't think he will be riding in his dad's lap anymore!)

Castiel had been working hard at service dog school for the past 3 months and is now home for a while to get some down time and play with his family. He has a BIG job he is training for.. he is in the beginning of his training to learn to do chest compressions to help his dad gain more independence.  He has some mighty big shoes to fill from Rick's last service dog Baxter who has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge after saving Rick's life multiple times.  Castiel is doing well with his training, and is so happy to be home with his mom and dad!!!

Here he is playing in the backyard.
Castiel's first excited moments at home when he sees his mom and dad for the first time in 3 months!!!
Apparently Castiel is good at the Muzzle Punch- a funny Doberman trait.  Stella is really good at it too!  When she wants something she pokes you with her muzzle to get your attention.  She also uses her front teeth to gently pinch Josh when she wants something.  Haha.

** Wait List Policy **

3/6/2012

Our waiting list is growing, so if you want to be considered first before the puppies are posted as available- let me know.  I've been trying to figure out the most parsimonious way to manage our wait list because I like to match puppies with their families and their preferences.  It's hard to know what a puppy will be like or look like when they are first born, so I am going to make the following compromise...

Those on the wait list will be contacted first, as soon as the puppies are born, and given the opportunity to put a deposit on a puppy and will be ordered by number of picks.  Deposits are refundable, of course (see my policy on the Home page).  For example, the third person who contacted me about wanting a male from the wait list will be given the number 3 pick of the male puppies.

Those on the wait list must wait until they are four weeks old to make their picks so that we can all have a better understanding of your puppy's needs.  At four weeks old, I will be better able to determine their conformation and personality and know how much each puppy will be.  Different families are looking for different things in puppies; some want a red male only, others prefer a more energetic puppy, etc.

In summary, if you want a puppy for sure.. let me know so I can put you on the wait list.  When they are born, I will contact you and see if you are still interested in one of our babies.  If you are, you will be asked to put down a deposit and be given a number of pick (e.g., Male # 2).  You will have a guaranteed puppy, but specific puppies will not be selected until they are four weeks old in the order of picks.  After those on the wait list have selected their puppies, all other puppies will be posted as available.

If the wait list becomes full and deposits are put on all available puppies, do not become discouraged.  Keep following the Blog and the Available Puppies page because sometimes unforeseen circumstances prevent families taking puppies home.  I also have a refundable deposit policy so that those who put down a deposit may change their minds

I uploaded these new pictures of Rambo on the Home page. He is so handsome!!!

I also received the DCM test results back, and she is cleared by DNA.  I have all of Stella's tests available for interested parties.  I do not post them online because I need to redact my personal information and rescan them.  Stella's thyroid panel was also normal.

I also added pics of Chief (aka- Fe Fe) to the Progeny Photo Album. I am fairly certain this masculine dog was named Fe Fe by their little girl. Haha.  They are so cute together!

Although we are going to have to have a family discussion about what IS and what ISN'T a dog toy!  I found Cole's monkey pacifier out in the yard.  The pacifier piece is still missing... Eek!
